Michelle Obama Planned Barack Obama Divorce In 2000 — ReportThe most powerful couple in the world almost called it quits before his presidency — claim shocking allegations from a controversial new book.

Michelle Obama and Barack Obama seem to have a perfect marriage, but a shocking new biography claims that Michelle started writing up divorce papers before they entered the White House.

Michelle, 48, allegedly wanted the split from Barack, 50, Edward Klein writes in his controversial new biography ‘The Amateur’.

Edward interviewed 200 Obama friends and family members for the book, and claims that there were many incidents that put a strain on their marriage. Yet in 2000, their 8-year union was on the skids due to his crushing Chicago primary defeat against Democratic Congressman Bobby Rush, the New York Post reports.

“During the dark days that followed his defeat, he turned to Michelle for comfort,” he writes. “But she was in no mood for sympathy. He had refused to listen to her warnings about taking on [Bobby]. Michelle actually had divorce papers drawn up. Obama was so depressed that some of his friends worried that he was suicidal.”
